Drop it like it's HOT.

With the sun at it's brightest these days, hemlines are definitely getting shorter.I love a loud colored dress and there's nothing more exciting than playing with bright candy colors!
This chartreuse dress is my favorite summer dress. The ruffles on the bodice add a flirty feel to the dress. It also has a good length and the cotton sateen fabrication is great for the hot weather. I paired it with a rich pink blazer to add some quirk into the look. Shoes and bag, a darker green to match and an effortless pony tail sums up my favorite day look!
After my previous androgynous post, It was only fitting that I go extremely girly for the next one and so I did. That doesn't mean I let hello kitty throw up all over me. I simply got out one of my many gorgeous day dresses and a killer pair of heels! Bright pink lips would have been nice too, but then again there needs to be a balance between the colors and a soft petal pink lip completed my look.

Suit Up!

I've come across a lot of women who are against men if they go through a silly breakup or an argument, therefore quoting "all men are pigs" and "all men are the same". Well, they're not. And you most certainly cannot judge all men on one mistake made by some guy, for whatsoever reason broke your heart or pissed you off. I've had my fair share of men who have hurt me and have treated me like dirt. But I never let their mistake impact the relationship I have with the other men (friends) in my life.
I'm surrounded by the most amazing men in my life today , and that starts with my dad. Taking inspiration from these fantastic guys( you all know who you are), I decided to wear a tie for this outfit post. While usually I would just throw on the blazer and rock a fun, printed Reem Buqais bowtie, I decided on a tie.

A tie to represent all the amazing men in my life. My dad, my brothers ( including my cousins and my brother in law) my friends, and an extra special friend.

Eat my Chiffon

Work wear needn't be boring and here's how. Add maxi skirts, A line floral midi skirts or culottes with a pair of crisp formal shirt and you're ready to rock a glamorous office outfit. Agreed that office outfits shouldn't be too over the top, but sometimes you just need to "dress up" on a sucky day at work.
I even love wearing statement necklaces with formal shirts and peg leg trousers with pumps. Add a black blazer with metallic buttons and you've got yourself a classy look that you can take from the office to a night out with the girls!
On another note, I'll be away on a short, one week trip with my girlfriends this month. So you guys will have to excuse my lack of posts starting June 18th for an entire week. But you can keep up with my daily outfits on my instagram account @askthestylecouncil or like my Facebook page , where I post more often.

Shacket - (Sha:kett) : A cross between a Shirt and Jacket.

It's the peak of summer here on the island and apart from my face melting, my hair getting lighter and hemlines getting shorter, everything around me is pretty much the same. The heat is just unbearable for me and I'm cranky and moody all the time. I hate stepping out for shoots these days and the crew is being extremely patient with me and taking in any tantrum I throw their way! Have I mentioned I hate summer?

Moving on to my look here, as you all know a denim jacket is a summer staple for me. But because I've been wearing my trusty denim jacket too often, I used this white twill- denim shacket (shirt+ jacket) over a sundress because without a jacket, I feel chilly indoors and with anything thicker, it's only hours away until I'm fully cooked.
I love the idea of lightweight shackets over dresses, sleeveless vests, slub tees and shorts. It's a great way to layer up for summer to add a statement to your ensemble. A slightly longer shacket can also act as a great cover up for the beach. Two ways to wear, easy stylish looks and multi purpose! Do you own a shacket? If not, It's about time you did.

Blue Lace and Houndstooth

I've always loved textures more than plain fabric and this houndstooth skirt was a steal at SPLASH!
I am all about this below the knee skirt length and obviously crop tops and I cannot say it enough. I paired the black and white skirt with a bright colored lace crop top and painted a white necklace with hot pink nail polish to add in a hint of extra color. See through jelly Furla and patent black pumps to complete the look ? But of course.
Midi skirts are perfect for work so don't shy away from picking up a few in basic colors like black, tan and navy . Paired with a collared shirt, they scream out sophistication and is definitely going to earn a spot in your wardrobe staples. Pair them with low heeled pumps if you're short or pointed toe flats if you're tall and slim to look flirtatiously feminine! I highly recommend houndstooth with colored basics like a blouse or patent shoes. Think yellow, red and emerald green. Black is a safe bet.
I cannot wait to work this texture for winter with deep burgundy and a turtle neck!

Moving on, Sale season is upon us. Are you ready ladies?

Shirt over Tee + A fact about Me

A lot of you guys have emailed me and even posted questions on my instagram account about how I always maintain my hair and how I walk in heels all the time. The truth is, I don't. I don't always let my hair loose or wear high heels. I always have a pair of flats with me if I know I have to do a lot of running around after a shoot.Because let's be practical here. I would never wear heels to the mall or on a busy day.You do not need heels to look stylish. I changed into sneakers after this shoot because I had a long, busy day ahead and I did not want to be prancing around in strappy heels. Also, I like to save my heels for an occasion or a night out.
For work I have 2 pairs of 4 inch heeled pumps, one in nude and one in black. I also keep a pair of sturdy black flats at work, in case of sudden, unexpected work trips to mall, that involves a lot of running around.

Moving on to my look in this post, I love the idea of wearing casual shirts- be it checked or striped over a tank top or cuter placement print Tee shirts to bring a bit of edge to the look. Layering is key for me and I love pairing my shirts with Tee's, Jumpers and vests.Knot em up, Tuck them in or half in, half out and that's a little trick to wear the shirt. Don't let the shirt wear you.
