Visiting Gloss Bahrain

January is the month for weddings. With the start of every year, the first few months are always booked for weddings and other big events. While I do my hair at home on regular days, hair care at a good salon is a different experience all together! My salon escape has always been Gloss Salon and Spa, ever since I got my first hair treatment with them in 2013. It's one of those places that you go to and never turn away.
I had my monthly visit to Gloss for an up-do and as always, stylist Nabil Ghanem never ceases to amaze me. Apart from being pampered with a small massage during the hair wash and chatting with the friendly staff, you can also sip on tea while the stylist works on you.

Flora

Floral prints have their own flirty feminism and charm. While smaller prints are more delicate and subtle, larger prints can be quirky and bold. Ever since the trend caught on years back, a pretty floral pattern is a must in every woman’s wardrobe. Although the print may have lived its peak and died out, Floral patterns will never go out of fashion.

I prefer wearing prints during the day so that full justice is done to study the design and patterns. Apart from being more visually appealing during the daytime, they also give out an illusion of a fresher and active you.
In this look I threw on a knitted crop top over a floral sundress and added a bright orange belt to add a pop of color. Salmon pink heels and a bright orange floral patent planner clutch to match? Yes please.

Flirting with Fire

Prints are so much stronger than color as it can instantly attract attention and looks great when paired with basics. Some of my favorite printed pieces to have in my closet are blazers, pants, dresses and a blouse.I love how this printed blazer instantly makes the otherwise monochromatic outfit stand out.
It's even great when paired with a little black dress for date night or a sexy merlot number for cocktails. I personally love deep red lips with leopard prints . If you're not into bold lips or find it uncomfortable sporting a red pout, opt for smokey eyes and pale lips instead.
A striped blazer, strong floral prints abstract graphic prints are great options for printed pieces too. Pick prints that speak a little bit about yourself (conversation prints like little penguins or bicycles can really bring out your quirky side,)and don't forget to be confident. Remember, you can dress up in the very best and go all out, but nothing kills your style more than lack of confidence.
Be brave enough to wear what you want , and don't worry about what the others have to say. Dressing up is really an expression of who YOU are and what YOU want to be.

Cherry Pie

Box shaped dresses can be tricky to wear, especially if you are under 5’4 . The easiest way to work a box-shaped dress in your favorite color is to pair it with heels. Never wear them with flats as it can create an illusion to make you look shorter and stouter. If you need to pair it with a coat or blazer, opt for a cropped coat or blazer instead of longer ones as they’re so much more flattering and pleasant to the eye.

In this look, because my dress is somewhere in between a box and a skater shape, I paired it with a striped cardigan and sparkly heels to draw the attention to my legs. A taut, high pony tail adds height and looks neater than windswept hair with this outfit. While I once hated loose dresses that didn't hug my waistline, I now learned to love them.

So don’t be afraid of the unfamiliar, just learn to work them!

Frostbite

The cold winds have gotten stronger and as we layer to keep our bodies warm, keeping your skin hydrated is important too! Here are my top tips and tricks to not have your skin looking dry and flaky:

  1. Even though it’s chilly outside, do not wash your face with hot water. Lukewarm or cold water is best as hot water can dry up the skin even more.
  2. Use rose water instead of your usual toner during winter. Most toners have drying up agents that tighten the skin and can cause irritation.
  3. Use a good amount of moisturizer on your face. I personally love Eucerin DermoPurifier. Wait 10- 15 minutes before you prime your face for makeup.
  4. At night, remove eye makeup with Vaseline or moisturizing baby wipes before washing your face.
  5. Pat dry your face and have a good bedtime skincare routine. I love massaging my face with Keihl’s Midnight Recovery serum for a good 3-4 minutes to ensure blood circulation. If you have, use a face massager to depress the oils.
  6. If you have dry or flaky skin in any areas of your face, use a soft, dry face brush and very gently, apply circular brushing motion and then apply Vaseline on the affected area twice a day for 15 minutes. This does not apply to sensitive areas such as under-eyes.
  7. And as always, Keep drinking lots of water!

Flat out Fabulous

A denim dress is such a versatile piece of clothing to own in your closet. Be it day or night, winter or summer, a well-fitted denim dress can serve multiple ooccasions Here are my top takes on creating 4 looks with my favorite denim dress.
Paired with over-sized chandelier earrings, sparkly diamante pumps and a metallic clutch is a perfect ensemble for cocktails with the girls. Loose, big waves, smoky eyes and a nude lip to add to the glam factor? Yes please.
Brunch with the family? No problem! Throw on an ivory crochet scarf and a light-wash denim vest to sport a double denim look and pair it with cute, strappy flats. Opt for a loose up-do or a ponytail to keep the look more effortless and relaxed.
Face the chilly winter breeze by pairing a denim dress with warm tights , a bright coloured bag and contrasting colored shoes or ankle boots for pops of color. Throw on a leather jacket to add in some edginess.
Working the weekend can be a bummer, but not if you dress up. Paired with a white boyfriend blazer, nude pumps and a sleek top knot will keep you confident and on the go!

Emeralds & Pearls

Green is such a gorgeous color and I don't have enough of green in my closet. While there may be a lot of tricky shades of green, you can never go wrong with a jade or Emerald green. This particular top is actually darker than it looks in the sun.Either way, it was gifted to me on my birthday and I love it. My craze for crop tops haven't died out yet and I find myself getting more and more.
I paired this cropped top with my pristine white denims that I've rolled up and thrown my favorite cape over to cozy up in. Two tone sparkle shoes and a matching bag to compliment the jewel tone of the blouse and I'm fit to be in a Maharaja's treasure chest!

If you're too shy to bare your midriff in crop tops, try pairing them with high waisted skirts or pants.A sheer or patterned lace camisole would be edgier and add a bit of style element too. Don't be afraid to try on some cropped tops and style them your own way!
