Until we meet again Summer

The moment I've been waiting for is here. Summer is FINALLY coming to a close and I cannot be more thrilled. As you all know, I prefer layering as opposed to just throwing on a dress. I personally think that layering is so much more creative and fun. The evenings are chilly these days and I have finally brought out all of my layering pieces.
On a different note, A lot of you have been asking me about how my skin has cleared up so much. A few on you even asked me if I photo shop my skin or blur it out. The truth is I don't. Yes i used to break out last year because I used to get sent a lot of products to review and I would test it to give my real opinion. Don't worry, I have never blogged about the stuff that made me break out. If you were wondering what the product was, it was the Intraceuticals range of skincare. And although I still get a lot of products from various skincare and cosmetic brands, I don't break out as much thanks to my dermatologist.
Moving on, I paired this gorgeous viscose tee with a  crisp white shirt, which is a wardrobe staple for me. I love collared shirts under jumpers, tee shirts, dresses and even tied up over vests. While I would normally throw on a brazer or a coat over this ensemble, It wasn't that chilly yet so I'll be saving my boyfriend coats to make it's debut in a couple of weeks.Until then, I'll just have to be patient.

Black Out

Black is the one color that I turn to, on days where I'm just in no mood to wear bright hues. Yes, my style always reflects my mood and off late, I've been wearing too much black. While I do like to balance out the darkness of my outfit, I keep in mind to not add in loud pops of color, instead I work with prints or metallic hues. A nice necklace in a rich tone is all the color I need to my other wise plain outfit.Last month has been a roller coaster for me, a lot of downs and a few ups. It has been the most busiest and one of the most stressful months for me.I've learned a lot of lessons this last month and the 3 most important things I'd like to share with you all are:

1. Be careful of people that are EXTRA nice, OVER- friendly and a little too helpful, even when they needn't     be.*
2. Stepping out of your comfort zone is where all the magic happens.Never be afraid to take that chance.
3. Do your best and leave the rest to God.

That being said, this dreadful weather isn't helping either. I hate the sun and I hate summer. When will the clouds come out and create a nice layer, masking me from this ball of fire? Enough of my rants for today. Hopefully my foul mood will fade away in time for the next post.

*With a few exceptions of course.

Denim, Burgundy and Navy

Like black and white, white and tan, mint and pink, navy and beige, one of my all time favorite combinations is- Denim and Burgundy/Maroon/Bordeaux- whatever you like to call it.

Because the location for the shoot was so beautiful and full of lush green tones, the idea of working with burgundy seemed good to me. I love rich reds and deep purples against a forest green color palette and while I would have paired this Bordeaux skirt with black or white, I opted for navy instead, as I found the tones rather daring. A rugged jacket not only make the look go from casual brunch to a quick pub stop easy, it also made me not worry about where they day would take me. I love these strappy block heeled shoes as they're super comfortable and wearable throughout the day! A great sale buy, these babies can be paired with cut off denims, dresses and jeans without making you look "too dressed up" for a casual event.
Maybe I should have picked up the tan color way as well, huh?

On another note, say hello to my new shoot location. It's acres of greenery and flowers and you'll definitely be seeing more of it the posts to come!

These Flowers again!

If you remember from last year, I had posted about this little peice of land behind my house that gets covered in little yellow flowers every winter. It's such a beautiful sight especially when you live in the desert and are used to seeing sand and barren ground everywhere! Like these flowers, a lot of good things have bloomed for me in the year that passed.

A very special friend recently asked me why I hadnt taken any of my blog pictures this year on the flower coated ground that we pass by every time we go out. So here it is. The post with me in my most comfortable attire, extremely casual and relaxed, fuss free and exactly how I like to be on days when I'm just chilling with my friends. No high heels, no hair flying in my face and some killer red lips. That is all you need to look and feel good!

Basics Shmasics

As much as I love my basics on a casual day out with my girlfriends, I sometimes frown upon the thought of wearing an over-sized tee and leggings, unless I've got my hair done.

My solution? I pick out my favorite basics and wear them together. These super skinny "Alice" jeans from Mango are my favorite. They're tight in the right places and I love the wash and how they are super stretchy and look so classy, day or night
Moving on, another favorite of mine, this plain black chiffon blouse is so versatile, it takes me from work to a dressy dinner and even relaxed shopping trips to the mall! Girls, if you don't, You must own chiffon blouses in black and white. Trust me, you're going to get a lot of use out of them.
Flats are my favorite for weekends, and so my comfiest pair ever, make an appearance in this post.
A blazer would have been an obvious choice, so a safari jacket to up my style quotient a little? Yes please!

DENIM- Do it Right with SALSA.

Who doesn't love denim? No, wait. Let me rephrase that. Who doesn't love a good fitting pair of denim? I know I do!
I usually only stick to wearing a well fitted pair of jeans or leggings because I hate it when trousers bunch up at the knee while you sit and get up at work. Yes, I've had that issue with trousers from EVERY brand I've tried. So, I stick to jeans, jeggings and ponte leggings all the time.
Salsa recently had an event for us bloggers called “Find your perfect fit” and YES GIRLS, THEY DO EXIST! We got to meet stylist Ekram from Egypt who gave us a little brief on all the types of jeans they carried and she even measured us up and recommended 3 pairs that she thought suited us best and guess what? All of us ended up picking one of the 3 Ekram recommended. You see ladies; it’s all about knowing your body.
Morpho collection- Designed to ENHANCE your body

Body Collection- Designed to FIT your body

As explained to us by Ekram- Our bodies are fruits. We have the grape (an hourglass), the strawberry (broad shoulders, narrow waist), the Pear (narrow shoulders, broad hips), the banana (rectangular), and the Apple (full and rounded). Now if you've been blessed with an hourglass or banana figure, almost anything will look good on you! But if you've got a bigger waist, a huge butt or a fuller stomach, Salsa has a pair of jeans that was made for you! Ekram told me I’m somewhere in between a strawberry and an hourglass so she recommended the Push up super soft skinny jean for me and I LOVED IT!

Now, you've heard of the secret push in jeans that are meant for women that like to push in some of the mass from the hip and waist area, but have you heard of the MYSTERY jean? Secret pads in the back pocket of the jeans accentuates, lifts and shapes the butt for a more glamorous, Diva like feel. Wear them with killer heels for a night out to turn some heads girls! This is the genius pair we've all been waiting for (Of course not those of you who have been blessed with perfect bums, sigh!)

Now that I've rambled on and on about women and how we have our body proportion problems, lets talk about men. Unlike us, Men are less fidgety and picky and choose their jeans based on their comfort level and style. Enter- the denim art collection for men. 10 styles and cuts to choose from, every man is sure to leave the store with something that suits him best.

Salsa offers more than 20 different fits to choose from, whether you’re short, tall, skinny, round, lanky … you get the idea.
For such a small store, you wouldn't expect them to have a wall full of denim options to choose from, and apart from all the jeans, they have great jackets and shoes too!
Here are a few photographs of the event and all the fun we had in store!
