We recently hosted a contest on our Facebook Page in collaboration with GlossSalon and Spa, where one lucky winner had the chance to get any free service of his/her choice. As always, the contest was a success and we had a lot of entries! The winner was announced a few weeks back and she chose to get the Brazilian Blowout treatment at Gloss.

Put your best foot forward

Summer calls for strappy sandals in all colors and styles and it’s but obvious for us ladies to have pretty feet while sporting gladiators and thongs out and about. Mani- Pedi’s are crucial for me, especially during summer. I recently went on my monthly visit to Gloss and got an amazing Pedicure by (my favorite) nail Specialist Lett, who has been featured on the blog before! •  They offer Shellac Service! Shellac is my favorite nail treatment before major events like weddings or week long celebrations. It is basically a manicure with Gel polishes that are hardened under UV lights. They last really long, don’t chip off at all and the polishes have INSANE shine. I got my Shellac on before I went to London last year and all I did during my trip was admire my nails instead of the signts. Remember, if you get Shellac done/ removed by unprofessional, they can break your nails if not removed well. So I highly recommend getting them done from trusted salons like Gloss.

Nailed It!

Yesterday I visited my beauty haven, Gloss Salon and Spa to get a quick manicure as my nails have just started growing out stronger.
I used to have weak nails and keeping them long wouldn't help, as they would break very often and look uneven.
Honilett Vidal, also known as Lett at Gloss, is the nail technician and specializes in manicures, nail art and marbling. Here are Lett's tips to keeping your nails strong and healthy:

1. Always keep your nails nourished with a good nail oil, Like Dr. Haushka's neem nail and cuticle care oil.
2. Try to wear darker nail polishes less, as they can stain your nails, causing them to turn yellow.
3. Always wear a good base coat before applying nail paint.
4. For weak nails, massage in olive or almond oil weekly to keep them strong and healthy.
5. Look for nail colors that are DBP, formaldehyde and paraben free.
6. Get Manicures/ Pedicures at least once a month with a good nail specialist and.
7. When you don't absolutely need to, don't wear any nail polish. Simply get a good cleaning, massage and let your nails breathe.

What maketh a great Salon?

I believe that beauty starts with healthy skin and hair. Having full, thick hair and glowing skin are signs of a healthy lifestyle, and a good routine, which is why one must be very careful in picking out a salon to stay true to.

I often blow-dry and style my hair which is why I like to get hair treatments every once in a while. Not taking good care of your hair, eating the wrong foods or not eating at all can lead to thinning of hair, hair loss and eventually balding. Gloss Salon, which I have been raving about since 2014, has the best team of professionals that cater to every individual person’s need. They actually spend time to get to know you before they treat your skin or hair, which is why I love the place even more.

I recently got my hair cut and posted a picture of instagram and the response was great. While my hair was flat before, It is now full and has great body. Visiting Gloss Bahrain

January is the month for weddings. With the start of every year,the first few months are always booked for weddings and other big events. While I do my hair at home on regular days, hair care at a good salon is a different experience all together! My salon escape has always been Gloss Salon and Spa, ever since I got my first hair treatment with them in 2013. It's one of those places that you go to and never turn away.
I had my monthly visit to Gloss for an up-do and as always, stylist Nabil Ghanem never ceases to amaze me. Apart from being pampered with a small massage during the hair wash and chatting with the friendly staff, you can also sip on tea while the stylist works on you.

My Davine's hair treatment experience at Gloss

 I  have a love- hate relationship with my hair. Some days, I love it and some days I want to chop them all off. And on days when I’m loathing my locks, Gloss knows how to take care of them.

After having my lowlights done by Nabil at Gloss, which I loved, by the way, and I know you guys did too, I recently had the Davine’s hair treatment. Now before I explain what exactly happens with the DHT, let me tell you how incredibly busy my week had been. I’ve recently been given some extra responsibility at work and with extra responsibility comes extra stress. And with stress comes hair fall and break outs.Yes, I’ve had a zit on my cheek and my head is throbbing with getting around all the new information I’m taking in. While it does give me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, I do however feel the need of a good massage, and the DHT is  like a massage and hair care treatment that is perfect if you feel my pain.

I was welcomed by my favorite hair expert Nabil and the other friendly staff at Gloss Salon and Spa. Nabil started off by analyzing my hair. We came to the conclusion that my hair was dry and needed some moisture and shine so he chose the Nourishing range of Davine’s treatment set. Jane then spent a good few minutes massaging the shampoo into my hair and leaving it for about 10 minutes for the product to sit. The foam on my scalp was an amazing, ice- cooling sensation-it felt like ice and mint and something that I really needed that afternoon. Jane then conditioned my hair after which it was time for the serum. My hair was sectioned carefully so that the droplets were massaged well into my scalp. Nabil says that this procedure helps to nourish the hair follicles.

After the amazing treatment, I felt so relaxed and walked out with my scalp feeling cold and my hair smelling and feeling fantastic. I highly recommend this treatment if you're feeling stressed out or simply need some hair pampering! 

Please keep in mind that this is not a chemical treatment. However, you start to see/ feel the difference on your hair after 3 or 4 treatments. The products are even available to purchase . The shampoo and conditioner retails at around 7 BHD each and the serum is 23 BHD.I  recommend a personal session with Gloss first before you buy.

GLOSS Salon & Spa: My Experience

 Lets face it girls, gorgeous hair is the start to being fabulous. I personally believe that if you have great hair, you can get away with anything!
Now let's back up a bit to my post on New Year's Eve 2013, where I blogged about how ridiculously hard it was to find a good salon that I felt attached to. Ever since, I've been on the lookout for a place that does great hair and guess what? Ever since I let Gloss Salon and Spa work their magic on me, I bagged lots of compliments. Not only that, I love the fact that my hair stayed as it was styled until I washed it out!!!

I walked into Gloss, conveniently located at Marriott Executive Apartments, Juffair and found myself welcomed by the staff. I had an appointment with Nabil, the hair dresser and he asked me what kind of service I wanted. Now I'm usually very particular about the look I want when I decide to get my hair done, but looking at Nabil and the confidence he exuded, I let him decide. He suggested hair color and I was thrilled because I've never had my hair professionally colored, ever. I've only experimented during school days and obviously that was a disaster!
Moving on, Nabil explained the difference between low-lights and highlights and when we had established that low lights were more suitable for me, I even let him pick the color! He started off by preparing my hair and the dye, then sectioning my hair that the color would cover. The sectioning was done so that the low lights are not very obvious and in-your-face. After about 30 minutes with lots of foil in my hair and waiting and watching Nabil style an Arab woman's hair into a gorgeous voluminous crop hairdo, May was ready to wash out the dye and prep me for, and I quote "The best hairdo of my life".If you guys follow me on Instagram, you would know how much I love to curl my hair! Anyway, Nabil styled my hair so beautifully that I felt like a superstar! My hair was glossy and stayed put until I washed it a day later.It was unlike any other loose curls I've ever sported. It even broke my heart when I had to wash my hair.
Needless to say, I ended up loving the place, my new hair and the professionalism of the staff. What I love even more is that it's pocket friendly!
So girls , the next time you've got a date, an event to attend or have had a bad day, pop in to Gloss and I guarantee you that you wont go home disappointed.
